We are delighted to invite you to submit your work for presentation at JCDL 2018 (https://2018.jcdl.org/) Workshop on Image Collections: Creation, Organization, Access, and Use.
This workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to exchange research ideas on image collections, including the creation, organization, access, and use (COAU) of various image datasets. We expect to discuss various theories, methods, techniques, challenges, and new research directions as related to image’s COAU. Especially we would like to explore innovative ideas on image annotation, retrieval, use behavior & personas, processing of different types of images, and visual image metrics. The workshop will allow researchers to communicate with their peers on projects and develop new ideas through presentation and discussion. We hope to establish a community of researchers from related disciplines and explore questions critical to the future development of image’s COAU. Participants of this workshop will be invited to submit a full paper to a special issue at The Electronic Library (http://www.emeraldinsight.com/journal/el) on Image Collections.
Following are the possible topics (but not limited to) we would like to call for submissions:
- Creation of large image collections
- Theories and/or framework for image annotation (image tagging)
- Image categorization and classification
- Image retrieval and image results diversification
- Viziometrics or visual image metrics
- Innovative technologies on image processing and analysis
- Image seeking and use
- Medical images mining and analysis
- Social images sharing and understanding
- Data extraction from images
Authors are invited to submit at least an extensive summary of their paper for review. However, a full paper that is no longer than 6,000 words needs to be written at the time when the workshop is held. The extensive summary should be at least one page highlighting the research purposes and/or questions, methodology, and significance. At least one of the authors is expected to attend the workshop if the paper were accepted. Each accepted paper will be presented at the workshop on June 3rd, 2018 at University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
All papers must be original contributions. The material must therefore not have been previously published or be under review for publication elsewhere. All contributions must be written in English and must follow The Electronic Library (http://emeraldgrouppublishing.com/products/journals/author_guidelines.htm?id=el) author formatting guidelines (templates available for authoring in Microsoft Word, you can also submit a pdf like the sample article at TEL website).
